With the summer heat upon us, we thought we’d share some ideas on how to keep cool in Cokato.
1) Ice Cream! We’re fortunate to have many options when it comes to this cool treat. Here are some local spots that offer it:
Dairy Queen
The Grounds
Bait n’ Hook
Charged Up Nutrition (cold shakes and teas)
Chito's Ice Cream Truck - follow their Facebook page for their whereabouts
Find more options by typing "ice cream" in the Search bar in the Business Directory.
2) Local Beaches and Lakes
The most popular ones are Collinwood Beach in Collinwood Park and the beach at Brooks Lake Park. Find more info on the Parks, Lakes, and Trails page.
3) Cokato Public Library
Enjoy a book or activity (not to mention air-conditioning) at our local library. The library staff have summer on their minds as well; try one of their cool recommendations they’ve selected and put on display. Kids will have fun trying the weekly activities.
4) Cokato Museum
Just below the library, you’ll find an especially cool spot to visit in the Cokato Museum. Check out the elaborate and fascinating exhibits that tell the stories of Cokato’s history. Kids will also enjoy the museum scavenger hunt.
5) Cokato Community Pool
The pool has kept many Cokato residents and visitors cool since 1992. The kiddie pool and shallow end are perfect for the younger kids. There is a deep end with jumping board. Lap swim and pool rentals are also available. You can find more info regarding rates and hours here.
6) D-C High School Pool
Open swim, lap swim, and rentals offered. Find more info on the school web site here.
7) Local Patios
1) Bait & Hook
3) Dairy Queen
8) Open Skate
Keep cool indoors in the DC Rec Center while cruising around on your skates at Family Open Skate, offered 6 Wednesdays in June and July. No registration necessary; pay at the door. For more info: https://dc.cr3.rschooltoday.com/public/costoption/class_id/10062.
