The Cokato Corn Carnival, August 12-14 in Peterson Park, downtown Cokato, is proud to be celebrating 75 years of building community, one cob at a time. Many favorites return this year along with some unique features of the 75th.
Like previous years, the family-friendly fun takes place Monday-Wednesday. The parade kicks off the festivities Monday evening. Schell’s Hobo Band, the Grand Marshalls, performed at the first Cokato Corn Carnival in 1950. This Minnesota Music Hall of Fame inductee will then take their act to the stage in the park following the parade.
Tuesday will once again feature all the Corn Carnival favorites: food stands, free corn from 4-8, rides, midway games, kiddie prize drawings, and the always-popular Bingo. Just across the street the Cokato Museum features special exhibits and there is a used book sale in the Centennial room next to the library. Full schedule can be found at CokatoCornCarnival.com. Gear up for a new addition to the festivities this year! There will be a car show along 4th Street in Cokato between Broadway and Jenks from 4-7 pm. Pre-registration is encouraged. The crowning moment of the evening will begin at 8:00 with Miss Cokato coronation.
On Wednesday, another fun-filled day of activities similar to Tuesday. Instead of the Car Show and Coronation, Wednesday will feature some stellar evening entertainment. At 6:30 by the stage, Mid-Minnesota Concert Band will perform. Following them at 7:15, local favorite Cowboys in Sneakers will open before Martin Zellar and the Hardways kick off at 8:15.
Following the free concert will be the 10 p.m. cash raffle drawing and the drawing for the 2024 Chevy Trax. Purchasing a cash or car raffle ticket is an excellent way to be sure that the Corn Carnival can thrive and be here for the next 75 years.
